Accessibility statement

JeevanPatra should be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or voice control. This page says which standard we work to, what is not yet accessible, and how to tell us about a barrier.

Last updated: 29 October 2026

Our target

We are working towards:

  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA
  • IS 17802 (Parts 1 and 2), the Indian standard aligned with WCAG 2.1 AA
  • Guidelines for Indian Government Websites and Apps (GIGW) 3.0, where they apply to us

Known limitations

These parts are not yet fully accessible. We are fixing them and will update this page as fixes ship.

  • Handwritten prescription images do not yet have a full text equivalent next to them.
  • Charts on the doctor and pharmacy dashboards do not yet have a text or table alternative.
  • Downloaded images and PDFs (for example ID cards and prescription PDFs) are not tagged for screen readers; the same information is available as text in the app or website.
  • Staff accounts are signed out after a period of inactivity without an advance warning.
  • Some pages have more than one main heading or skip a heading level.
  • Error text in the dark theme does not yet meet the contrast target on every background.
  • We have not yet tested with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack, VoiceOver) or with users with disabilities, and no independent audit has been completed.

Report an accessibility barrier

If you cannot use part of JeevanPatra, or need information in another format, email connect@jeevanpatra.com with “Accessibility barrier” in the subject. Tell us the page or app screen, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you use, if any. Please do not include health details or passwords.

We will acknowledge your message and, if we cannot fix the barrier quickly, give you the information or service in another accessible way. You can also use the contact page or, for a privacy complaint, the grievance page.

How we check

We review code against WCAG 2.1 AA, run automated checks in our test suite, and use the operating system accessibility settings to test the apps. Screen-reader testing and an independent audit are planned; this statement will be updated when they are complete.
